Sarah Louise Heath Palin was born on February 11, 1964, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
She was the third child of Charles "Chuck" R. Heath and Sarah "Sally" Heath, who had English, German, and Irish roots. Her father was a schoolteacher and running coach, and her mother worked as a school secretary. When Sarah was two months old, her family moved to Alaska and settled in the small town of Wasilla in 1969.
Sarah attended school in Wasilla, where she became the leader of the local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
